Senior Accountant

STARTING SALARY:

$62,000 to $69,000 per year

LOCATION:

217 S. Salina St., 2nd Fl., Syracuse, NY 13202

REPORTS TO:

Chief Financial Officer

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum two-year degree in Accounting; bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred. A minimum of two years of experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on financial reporting and analysis. A strong understanding of accounting principles and software.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial data, revenue and expense of assigned programs and grants.
• Assist with budget preparation and forecasting processes for the Agency, while being responsible for budgets and projections of assigned programs and grants.
• Ensure timely and accurate posting of transactions to the general ledger for assigned programs / departments while adhering to internal controls.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, including grant contracts and Agency internal controls.
• Assist with the completion of month-end and year-end financial closing roles for assigned grants / programs / departments.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to program departments and CFO / Controller.
• Attend meetings and present financial reports for programs and grants directly charged to this position.
• Review accuracy of all vouchers and claims for payments to grants (includes federal, state, local and foundations).
• Provide assistance to other functions of the fiscal department.
