Wealth Senior Client Portfolio Manager

Overview

Provides portfolio management (trading) services across a large number of more complex accounts (estimated at 300 Investment Policies and over 1 Billion in AUM) to transition portfolios toward Wilmington Trust’s best thinking. Works with Investment Advisor to understand objectives, constraints, and tax budget of portfolio and proactively communicates with Investment Advisor, making them aware of trades when they occur, by making critical decisions on how to marry Wilmington Trust’s best thinking with the client’s unique needs.

• Manage Desktop Managed Equity (DME) accounts by coordinating with Investment Advisor on appropriate tax budget, targeting specific Wilmington Trust Equity strategy, and implementing trades in a timely manner throughout the year in accordance with transition plan. Collaborate with Investment Advisor on decision making process, marrying firm’s best thinking with client needs.
• Portfolio Manager can also manage entire portfolio to make trades to move towards appropriate target multi asset class strategy set by the Investment Advisor and client.
• Proactively manage the client’s accounts by placing trades and monitor tracking error in portfolios in accordance with transition plan.
• Track trades and provide timely communication with Investment Advisors.
• May work with more complex relationships that have multiple constraints, restrictions, or considerations needed given trust language or existing positions.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Primarily on unit.

• Bachelor’s degree and three years related work experience, or in lieu of degree, 7 years’ relevant professional work experience, with a minimum of 3 years’ investment experience.
• Comprehensive understanding in discipline.
• In-depth knowledge of trading procedures, investment platform, and implementing firm’s best thinking.
• Evaluates situations using multiple sources of information.
• Inputs to decisions within own discipline.
• Exchange complex information.

• CFA, progress toward CFA, or CIMA preferred. Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years’ investment experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 4 years’ investment experience.
• Comprehensive investment and industry knowledge.
• Proficient personal computer skills with solid knowledge of Microsoft Office.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $97,100.00 - $ Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
