This is an exciting opportunity to join a Global, industry leading company, overseeing all financial operations for the Company's newest advanced wafer (semiconductor) manufacturing facility in Syracuse, NY. This leadership role is accountable for establishing and growing the site's financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, manufacturing cost analysis, capital investment governance, and the implementation of strong financial controls.
The Director, Site Controller serves as the primary finance advisor to the Site Vice President and executive leadership team, providing strategic guidance that supports operational and financial objectives.
As the New York facility is a newly established manufacturing campus currently under development, this individual will play a critical role in building the site's finance organization from the ground up. Responsibilities include recruiting, developing, and leading the local finance team while partnering with finance leaders across the Company's manufacturing network to establish consistent financial systems, processes, and best practices.
Responsibilities- Provide leadership for all site finance activities, including budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, product cost analysis, financial reporting, and business performance reviews.
- Partner with site leadership as a trusted financial advisor, delivering insights and recommendations that support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Collaborate with corporate finance and manufacturing leadership to develop, evaluate, and optimize operating budgets and capital investment plans.
- Analyze major capital projects and business initiatives using financial metrics such as return on investment (ROI), net present value (NPV), payback period, and sensitivity analysis.
- Identify and implement cost optimization initiatives across manufacturing and support organizations to improve operational efficiency and financial performance.
- Maintain oversight of site financial controls, ensuring compliance with Company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with corporate and global manufacturing finance teams to align reporting, planning processes, financial systems, and operational metrics.
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain a high-performing finance organization that promotes collaboration, accountability, and continuous professional growth.
- Prepare entity-level financial statements, compliance reporting, and other documentation required to support government incentive programs and regulatory obligations.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to leverage automation, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies to enhance financial processes, improve data quality, and accelerate reporting and analysis.
- Monitor evolving finance technologies and recommend innovative solutions that improve operational effectiveness and decision support.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) in Finance, Business Administration, Management, or a related field is a plus
- 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance, manufacturing, operations, or other capital-intensive industries.
- At least 5 years of experience leading teams, with a proven ability to manage and develop cross-functional or geographically dispersed organizations.
- Candidates with an engineering or technical background should demonstrate practical experience performing financial analysis, developing business cases, evaluating investment opportunities, and building cost models to support strategic decisions.
- Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing operations, with direct exposure to wafer fabrication environments considered highly desirable is preferred.
- Background supporting large capital investment projects, new manufacturing facility launches, plant expansions, or greenfield operations preferred
- Familiarity with memory manufacturing or other advanced technology production environments a plus
- Strong analytical capabilities with extensive experience in financial planning, manufacturing cost analysis, capital investment evaluation, profitability analysis, and executive decision support.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and influence business decisions within large, complex, matrixed organizations.
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to perform analysis, develop financial models, and present recommendations.
- Experience working with enterprise financial and ERP platforms such as SAP or comparable planning, reporting, and analytics systems.
- Naturally inquisitive with a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for solving complex business challenges through data-driven analysis.
