Dietitian - Dietary Services

Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY is seeking two experienced Inpatient Dietitians to join the Dietary Services team. These professionals will provide comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and conduct detailed nutrition assessments for patients of all ages—from infants to geriatrics—in a Level I Trauma and Teaching Hospital setting. The Dietitians will play a key role in improving patient outcomes, enhancing nutritional status, and supporting multidisciplinary care.

• Shift: Day | 5x8-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
• Days: Monday – Friday

• Perform inpatient nutrition assessments and identify malnutrition and other nutrition-related conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans, including intervention and ongoing monitoring.
• Apply physician-driven protocols to manage or modify nutrition-related orders, including diet changes and enteral/parenteral nutrition.
• Oversee nutrition support therapies, including formula selection, rate adjustments, and supplementation.
• Educate patients and families on diet and nutrition management.
• Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
• Collaborate in multidisciplinary rounds and attend departmental meetings and training sessions.

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in acute inpatient or critical care (Level I or II Trauma Center preferred).
• Certification:
  CNSC (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician) strongly preferred.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
• Skills: Strong clinical judgment, collaboration skills, EMR proficiency, and expertise in enteral/parenteral nutrition management.

• Pay Range: $40–$45 per hour
