Job DescriptionThe Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program invites applications for an adjunct clinical instructor. The role includes teaching lecture and lab courses and accompanying students during clinical rotations at local healthcare organizations.
- Prepare and present lectures.
- Meet with students as needed to answer questions.
- Respond to student queries (e.g., email or voicemail) in a timely manner.
- Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams.
- Compute grades and submit them on time.
Clinical assignments for Fall 2024 are on Tuesdays or Thursdays during the day.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate’s degree in Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Active, unrestricted Physical Therapy License/Registration in New York State.
- Minimum of three years of full‑time post‑licensure clinical experience in physical therapy.
- Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
- Experience as a Clinical Instructor in physical therapy.
- APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor.
- Didactic teaching experience at the college level in an accredited physical therapist assistant program.
- Evidence of contemporary expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Pediatrics, Neurology, Orthopedics, Geriatrics, Modalities. - Evidence of computer‑based skills to complement and enhance teaching, assessment, and accreditation processes.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to function as an effective team member within a collaborative work environment.
- Excellent critical thinking and decision‑making skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and another language.
Candidates must be able to comply with current Department of Health regulations for vaccinations/immunizations required for acute and long‑term care facilities.
Employees may join the NYS Retirement System. Current pay rate is $43.71/hr or $60.51/hr depending on credentials (2023/24). 2024/25 rate pending.
