1:1 Part-Time Support Staff Needed - Syracuse Area (Job #MD-CS)

A 44-year-old female in the Syracuse Valley area is looking for a Direct Support Professional to assist her with being active in the community, verbal assistance with household tasks, and help with gaining independence. Staff are needed to assist her with setting up appointments, going to appointments, and help her understand phone calls she may need to place.

She spends her time going to the food panty to obtain food. She spends most of her time in libraries looking for apartments she could apply to. She requires assistance with setting up cab rides, appointments and reminders for those appointments. She would like to go back to GED classes when she finds a steady place to live. Staff may encourage other activities that may interest her that could be free while in the community.

She enjoys taking short walks when the weather is nice around local parks.

The ideal candidate should be engaging, patient to understand her situation, and willing to assist with making calls and setting up appointments. The ideal candidate must be willing to assist her with finding apartments and making calls.

This is a part-time position, but additional hours are available with other people receiving services.

Hours and days of work:
Looking for 2-3 days during Monday – Friday, starting at 9am til 2pm, willing to be flexible for days but must be consistent with starting time.

Starting pay: CH 1, starting pay is $18.50/hour and increases with years of relevant experience.

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work independently in the person's home and/or community.
• Reliable with effective communication and organizational skills.
• No experience required but experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
• New York State Driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance is required; acceptable driving record required.
• Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community.

Background check, fingerprinting and DMV record check will be conducted prior to hire by the non-profit agency.
