Senior Employment Consultant

Reports to: Program Manager – MH Employment

Location: Fulton, NY 13069

Pay Rate: $20 - $21.25 Hourly

Schedule: Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Our focus is supporting individuals by ways of residential housing, mental health and clinical services, and immersing our participants in community engagement. Working closely with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Office of Mental Health, we support 27 housing locations and 3 administrative buildings.

We are looking for a proactive employee to place, train, stabilize, and rehabilitate people with disabilities in competitive supportive employment.

• Receive referrals to supported employment programs and initiates acceptance/processing in collaboration with potential participants, referring providers, and employment program team
• Evaluate participants’ employment interests, skills and potential utilizing the personal portfolio method
• Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, human resource groups and employment networks
• Function as a community educator/marketer regarding the employment of people with disabilities
• Work with employers to “carve” jobs suitable for participants
• Provide rehabilitative service to individuals, as assigned
• Collaborate with employer/manager/trainer to assess participant training needs
• Support the Program Manager in monitoring department staff compliance with regulations and standards
• Provide training, orientation, and development for program staff, as assigned
• Assist Program Manager in coordinating program responsibilities and staff assignments, as assigned
• Provide regulation-durable services to participants, as assigned
• Document services provided in accordance with program policy
• Work collaboratively with participants, families, program staff, co-workers and supervisor
• Conduct self in a professional manner
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as company policies
• Perform Other Duties as Assigned

High school diploma/GED, plus four years’ experience working with people with disabilities, or, Associate degree, plus two years’ experience working with people with disabilities in order to secure competitive employment, or, Bachelor degree in a human services field, required.

Must have a valid NYS Driver License in accordance with the Agency Vehicle and Driving policy and reliable transportation necessary to meet program needs. Must respect confidentiality.
