Job Summary:

Current licensure as a Perfusionist in New York State is required.

This position is a non-tenure-track faculty appointment in the Department of Cardiovascular Perfusion and reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Cardiovascular Perfusion.

Faculty members in the Department of Cardiovascular Perfusion are expected to contribute to the teaching, scholarly, and professional missions of the College and University, consistent with the College of Health Professions Standards and Criteria for Faculty Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure.

Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, instruction in simulation, classroom, and clinical settings.

Faculty will develop and sustain a line of scholarly work related to cardiovascular perfusion practice or education.

Professional activities may include participation in departmental, college, university, and professional organizations' committees and task forces. Service to the department includes support of student admissions, programmatic quality improvement, accreditation activities, and professional service contracts (more details below).

Additional duties may be assigned consistent with faculty role and expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated breadth of experience in clinical perfusion practice.
  • Current certification as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).
  • Minimum of a Master of Science (MS) degree.
  • Eligibility for licensure as a Perfusionist in New York State.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the clinical management of adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients supported by extracorporeal technologies, including cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), ventricular assist devices (VADs) and other forms of mechanical circulatory support (MCS), cell salvage, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) therapy, and point-of-care (POC) laboratory testing.
  • Experience providing student instruction and assessment in clinical, classroom, and simulation-based environments.
  • Experience managing technology platforms and applying curricular methods used to design and deliver simulated clinical perfusion scenarios.
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to develop and sustain an independent line of research relevant to cardiovascular perfusion
