Beacon Solutions Group, a subsidiary of The Bonadio Group, is currently seeking a Coding and Documentation Analyst. This person will provide coding and documentation reviews to health care clients including professional, hospital, D&TC, OPWDD, OASAS, OMH, nursing home, home health, legal, state agencies and third-party payers. Work will be performed at home, client locations and regional office.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive, retrospective, or concurrent audits of records to validate coding and medical record accuracy.
- Perform audits of records as required by NYSCRR Title 10 §751.7 requirements of Article 28 Diagnostic & Treatment Clinics.
- Identify coding errors and review clinical documentation for completeness and report on trends.
- Prepare detailed audit summary reports for clients to support findings. Provide feedback to providers and coders to improve documentation and coding accuracy.
- Assist with diagnostic reviews of revenue cycles to determine opportunities for best practice performance of coding and clinical documentation.
- Prepare written reports.
- Provide coding duties to assure accurate completion of coding for assigned patient records.
- Conduct coding training sessions for Beacon staff, Beacon clients and team members. Identify opportunities to improve services for individual clients and develop suggestions for adjustment of services as appropriate.
- A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Health Information Management
- RHIT or RHIA certification required
- A minimum of five years of coding or auditing experience in either physician, hospital or nursing home environment
- Knowledge of documentation requirements for procedure and diagnosis coding.
- Must comply with all compliance, security, privacy and HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Must be willing to travel within New York up to 50% - overnight travel is occasionally required
- Our office hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
- Our summer hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday
- We pride ourselves on our flexibility; however the ability to work additional hours will be needed at peak times
The salary range for this position is between $60,000 to $80,000 and is commensurate with experience.
