Helio Health is on a mission to treat and promote recovery from the effects of substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral healthcare issues. To support the mission of Helio Health, the Child & Adolescent Developmental Specialist will be working within the child & adolescent clinic supporting children and families. The C&A Developmental Specialist will work on a Full-Time basis out of Helio Health's Syracuse Meadows CCBHC Child and Adolescent Clinic with some in-community expectations and evening hours as needed.

In addition to Helio Health's comprehensive benefits package, this position is eligible for a Sign-On incentive up to $1,500!

Pay Range: $21.00 - $25.50 per hour.

Responsibilities
    • Maintain a caseload of adults, youth, or families.
    • Perform primary psychiatric rehabilitation including screening, intake, orientation, evaluation, referral, patient education, treatment planning, reporting and record keeping, discharge planning, and consultation with other professionals.
    • Provide rehabilitation support, recovery-oriented activities, interventions, and skill development necessary for the client to improve self-management and reduce substance use, minimize psychiatric symptoms, and work on functional impairments.
    • Participate in person-centered treatment planning, including risk assessment and crisis planning and assist clients to identify a meaningful life role goal and objectives through a person-centered approach.
    • Provide coping skills training to improve navigation of psychiatric illness and its symptoms
    • Provide social skills training, benefits and financial management, and daily living skills training.
    • Assist clients with dietary and wellness education, including meal planning, healthy shopping and meal preparation and nutrition awareness.
    • Support clients to increase personal autonomy, including transportation navigation.
    • Provide employment services to assist individuals in pursuing, securing, and retaining employment if identified as chosen life role goal.
    • Actively participate on a multidisciplinary team.
    • Provide ongoing assessment of clients' progress toward recovery, functional skills and impairment levels.
    • Assist with the training of staff, volunteers and student interns as assigned.
    • Exhibit exemplary knowledge of the biopsychosocial process of substance use disorders/recovery,behavioral health,self-help group processes, and principles of counseling.
    • Relate effectively with staff, patients, and professional community while upholding appropriate standards of confidentiality.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, associate's degree required with experience working with youth.
  • One to three years of employment experience working with individuals with substance use and serious mental health disorders.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the educational requirements.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License is required.
