The Associate Director will act as a member of the ITS leadership team and will oversee computing technology needs for a number of large organizational units within the University. Oversight will include collaboration with leadership in their respective areas of support responsibility to understand functional and computing needs, recommendations for technical solutions and/or procedures, and implementation of the agreed upon solutions.

The Associate Director will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, supervision, and professional development of several staff in Administrative Computing Services. The Associate Director will report directly to the Director of ACS.

Education and Experience

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or related field with 5-8 years of related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Skills and Knowledge

* Proficient in hardware and software installation, troubleshooting and support.

* Familiarity with security, network and systems administration.

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with teams across the entire organization.

* Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

* Supervise computer consultant and support analyst staff, provide technical support, guidance, and direction, and manage staff development, training, and performance.

* Self-initiate and prioritize systems support/administration duties for self and team, including determining and defining the course of action necessary to obtain the desired result.

* Serve as an escalation point for staff in the identification and correction of moderately complex-to-complex computing systems and applications problems.

* Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in supported areas.

* Understand unit business processes and recommend appropriate hardware and software to ensure functionality and efficiency.

* Assess, implement and maintain hardware lifecycle replacement recommendations for supported units.

* Work with supported units, vendors, and other technical staff to ensure technology adheres to University IT policy.

* Assist units in selecting appropriate hardware and software that meets University security standards and accessibility requirements.

* Special projects as assigned.
