AboutThe Role
The Business Systems Manager is a strategic and hands-on leader within the IT team, responsible for planning, implementing, supporting, and continuously improving core business applications. This role oversees enterprise-critical systems such as ERP, WMS, EDI, and other integrated platforms, ensuring that technology solutions align with organizational objectives and deliver maximum value. Acting as a bridge between IT and business operations, this position plays a central role in system strategy, execution, and support.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the full lifecycle of business-critical applications, including selection, configuration, implementation, integration, upgrades, and user support.
- Lead cross-functional projects involving system rollouts, enhancements, and integrations across ERP, WMS, EDI, and eCommerce platforms.
- Manage all aspects of EDI, including mapping, integrations, onboarding new trading partners, and monitoring/troubleshooting daily transaction flows.
- Apply project management practices such as scoping, coordination among teams, timeline management, and stakeholder communication.
- Evaluate, plan, and execute new system implementations or upgrades, including budgeting, testing, training, and deployment.
- Partner with business leaders to identify needs and recommend system-based solutions.
- Manage relationships with software vendors, consultants, and integration partners.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across integrated systems, including both back-end and customer-facing platforms.
- Develop and maintain API connections between cloud and on-premise systems.
- Create and maintain documentation on system processes, data flows, and configurations.
- Monitor system performance and utilization; identify opportunities for improvement or automation.
- Stay current on emerging technologies relevant to enterprise applications, supply chain, and digital commerce.
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years in IT or systems-related roles, with at least 2 years focused on business applications or enterprise systems.
- Demonstrated success leading projects and collaborating across departments.
- Experience working with third-party vendors and consultants.
- Strong knowledge of ERP, WMS, EDI, and eCommerce systems; integration experience preferred.
- Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server), APIs, and data structures.
- Exposure to programming or scripting (C#, .Net, or equivalent) a plus.
- Experience with BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar).
- PMP, ITIL, or ERP-related certifications a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a process-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
