Director of Underwriting

A company is looking for a Director, Underwriting to provide strategic and operational leadership for the life underwriting function.

Key Responsibilities Define and execute long-term underwriting strategy focusing on growth, profitability, and automation Oversee enterprise underwriting risk and establish policies ensuring regulatory compliance and financial integrity Lead and develop underwriting teams while driving digital transformation and automation initiatives

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, finance, actuarial science, or related field; advanced degree or professional designations preferred 10+ years of progressive life insurance underwriting experience, with at least 5 years in senior management or executive leadership Demonstrated success in integrating underwriting strategy with technology platforms Deep expertise in life underwriting principles and regulatory requirements Strong understanding of business rules engines or decisioning tools, with preference for experience with Sapiens UW Pro
