Salary Range: $83,594 – $178,463
The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) is seeking experienced prosecutors for the Public Integrity Bureau (PIB) in the Syracuse office. PIB investigates and prosecutes crimes committed by public employees, elected officials, candidates for public office, and people and entities that steal from the government. Prosecutors with PIB handle complex, long‑term investigations into government corruption, fraud, bribery, and abuse of authority.
PIB also works on real estate frauds with our Real Estate Enforcement Unit and manages matters from initial allegation through settlement, plea, or trial. PIB consists of attorneys, detectives, auditors, and analysts.
- Applicants must have at least five (5) years of legal experience. The ideal candidate will have at least seven (7) years of legal experience, including at least five (5) years as a prosecutor.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing complex, document‑intensive investigations is required.
- Excellent writing abilities that include drafting complex warrants, along with significant grand jury and trial experience are also required.
- Applicants who have significant experience investigating crimes and frauds utilizing techniques such as search warrants, eavesdropping warrants, and subpoenas; who have experience interviewing witnesses and engaging cooperating witnesses; conducting forensic analysis of large volumes of data and review and analysis of financial information; and developing and managing complex, document‑intensive investigations are strongly preferred.
- A background in government and policy is desirable.
Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York state and be admitted to practice law in New York state. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that OAG attorneys be citizens of the United States. A two (2) year commitment upon being hired is a condition of employment.
