Our client, a global technology-driven manufacturer, is seeking a Commodity Manager to support a growing and highly collaborative procurement organization focused on precision-engineered products and customized manufacturing solutions. This role will lead sourcing strategy and supplier management across a diverse portfolio of custom fabricated components and indirect materials. The position offers strong exposure across the organization and the opportunity to make a measurable impact on supplier performance, operational efficiency, and long-term sourcing strategy. Commodity areas include:
- Custom machined components
- Sheet metal fabrications
- Plastics and injection molded parts
- Castings and forgings
- Specialty materials
- MRO and indirect procurement categories
- Develop and execute sourcing and commodity strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Lead supplier selection, RFQ/RFP processes, negotiations, and contract management activities.
- Build strong supplier partnerships focused on quality, delivery, innovation, and cost competitiveness.
- Identify and implement cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support supplier qualification, audits, corrective actions, and ongoing performance management.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Finance teams on new product introductions, design changes, and supply chain initiatives.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to support sourcing decisions and supplier discussions.
- Manage indirect procurement and MRO supplier programs.
- Maintain procurement and supplier data within ERP systems and support reporting and analytics activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field preferred.
- 8+ years of strategic sourcing or commodity management experience.
- Experience sourcing custom fabricated or precision-manufactured components preferred.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, and castings.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience with supplier quality systems, supplier development, and corrective actions.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and supplier management skills.
- ERP system experience required; SAP experience preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Experience in technical or highly engineered manufacturing environments.
- Experience managing MRO and indirect procurement categories.
- Familiarity with supplier quality standards and first article inspection processes.
- Experience with spend analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPM, CSCP, CPIM, CQE, or Lean Six Sigma are a plus.
