Commodity Manager - Custom Fabrication & Indirect Materials

Our client, a global technology-driven manufacturer, is seeking a Commodity Manager to support a growing and highly collaborative procurement organization focused on precision-engineered products and customized manufacturing solutions. This role will lead sourcing strategy and supplier management across a diverse portfolio of custom fabricated components and indirect materials. The position offers strong exposure across the organization and the opportunity to make a measurable impact on supplier performance, operational efficiency, and long-term sourcing strategy. Commodity areas include:

• Custom machined components
• Sheet metal fabrications
• Plastics and injection molded parts
• Castings and forgings
• Specialty materials
• MRO and indirect procurement categories

• Develop and execute sourcing and commodity strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Lead supplier selection, RFQ/RFP processes, negotiations, and contract management activities.
• Build strong supplier partnerships focused on quality, delivery, innovation, and cost competitiveness.
• Identify and implement cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support supplier qualification, audits, corrective actions, and ongoing performance management.
• Partner closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Finance teams on new product introductions, design changes, and supply chain initiatives.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to support sourcing decisions and supplier discussions.
• Manage indirect procurement and MRO supplier programs.
• Maintain procurement and supplier data within ERP systems and support reporting and analytics activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field preferred.
• 8+ years of strategic sourcing or commodity management experience.
• Experience sourcing custom fabricated or precision-manufactured components preferred.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, and castings.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with supplier quality systems, supplier development, and corrective actions.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and supplier management skills.
• ERP system experience required; SAP experience preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills required.

• Experience in technical or highly engineered manufacturing environments.
• Experience managing MRO and indirect procurement categories.
• Familiarity with supplier quality standards and first article inspection processes.
• Experience with spend analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPM, CSCP, CPIM, CQE, or Lean Six Sigma are a plus.
