Position Summary

Performs a wide variety of seasonal grounds keeping activities necessary for the ongoing safety, cleanliness, operation and overall appearance of the hospital’s campus. Performs other duties as assigned to assist in achieving overall division and hospital goals. Safety and regulatory compliance is a condition of employment. May be required to work other shifts as well as rotating schedules and overtime.

Seasonal grounds work to include

  • Snow and ice removal.
  • Lawn maintenance.
  • Landscaping and parking lot maintenance.
  • Operates and maintains all grounds equipment.
Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure

High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Clean valid NYS driver’s license is required. Previous experience highly desirable.

Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Special Equipment, Skills or Other Requirements

Ability to operate hospital bobcat, trucks and salting equipment and obtain proficient skills at snow and ice removal. Ability to safely utilize lawn care equipment including but not limited to mowers, trimmers, weed and hedging equipment. Individuals must be available to return to the campus after normal working hours with minimal notice should snow or ice conditions require it.

Work Environment and Hazards

Outdoors setting. Exposure Class I – routine or potential exposures to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions. Occasional to regular exposure to situations that could cause moderate to serious injury or illness, including but not limited to: operation of hospital vehicles, use of hand tools, power tools, operation of machinery and equipment, confined space entry materials and equipment cleaning utilizing various cleaning solutions.

Demands

Heavy work: continual and repetitive motions, including but not limited to: heavy lifting, bending, stooping, twisting, pushing, pulling, climbing and prolonged walking and standing.

Pay Range: $

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
