Overview

The Inventory Supervisor is responsible for managing inventory control systems, maintaining accurate product data, and ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. This role includes supervising inventory personnel and leading the team to achieve high accuracy and productivity standards while ensuring all company and regulatory policies are met.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive cycle count system, including count schedules, procedures, reporting, and accountability measures.
  • Monitor cycle count compliance and accuracy, providing regular performance updates to leadership.
  • Train and coach team members on proper counting techniques, documentation, and variance investigation.
  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day inventory control and warehouse operations, ensuring accuracy in both incoming and outgoing products.
  • Rectify miscalculations and handle discrepancies; report findings to management and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure the team accurately records and resolves returns, overages, and shortages.
  • Supervise staff scheduling, attendance, and performance, including disciplinary actions and performance evaluations.
  • Create and establish performance metrics to help manage and maintain performance levels and monitor them regularly.
  • Develop and define required training for inventory control personnel to maintain efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Build relationships with other departments (e.g., Sales, Purchasing, Transportation) to establish clear lines of communication and responsiveness to address issues.
  • Create an engaging and collaborative team environment, facilitating open communication and supporting team growth and creativity.
  • Conduct regular checks and verifications on inventory documentation, damaged products, and inspection of goods.
  • Implement and enforce all safety protocols, maintain compliance with quality standards, and oversee equipment needs.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor the storage and dispatch of goods to align with company targets.
  • Oversee staff training and certification for safe and efficient use of warehouse equipment.
  • Prepare all documentation for employees (e.g., coaching notes, written warnings, suspensions, performance evaluations) based on recent activities.
  • Monitor overtime and schedule accordingly.
  • Plan and coordinate the incoming/outgoing of product and storage in a timely and efficient manner to achieve the team’s goals.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and practices within the warehouse.
  • Operate a powered industrial truck (PIT).
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of warehouse procedures.
  • 2–4 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or related field; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership skills: train, motivate, direct the work of others.
  • Strong organizational skills: attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and working in a production-driven environment.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5-7 years of warehouse hands-on experience required. Mid-level management experience preferred.
  • Ability to execute reviews and disciplinary actions.
  • Knowledge of Excel and Word.
