Parts Department Manager
Anderson Equipment Company is one of the largest heavy equipment distribution companies in the Northeast. It is a family-owned, private company that has consistently grown and achieved financial success for almost 90 years. Currently in its third generation of family ownership and management, the company spans six states – West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine with 19 branch locations.
We are seeking a qualified candidate to lead the parts and warehouse operations of our Syracuse, NY branch Parts Department. This role involves overseeing a team of 5+ Parts to ensure optimal efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and profitability. The Parts Department Manager will develop marketing strategies and programs, and manage parts inventory to maximize availability without tying up excess capital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise the daily operations of the Parts Department.
- Train, supervise, review performance of Parts Countermen, warehouse and clerical staff.
- Monitor parts transactions towards predetermined margins and sales targets
- Approve special pricing and/or credit arrangements
- Review and approve daily stock orders
- Supervise annual year-end inventory reporting
- Ensure that shipping/receiving procedures are followed and handled in efficient manner
- Monitor and maintain high expectations on warehouse housekeeping
- Maintain awareness of competitor pricing, availability and marketing strategies
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5-10 years of Parts Management and Inventory experience in heavy equipment or related industry.
- Detailed knowledge of industry, including equipment lines, customer service trends and competitive initiatives required, successful parts marketing strategies and programs.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Proficiency in computer systems and software relevant to parts and logistics operations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Compensation depends on location, experience/skills, overtime: $80,000-$90,000 per year.
