Mission Hires is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist 1 for its second shift. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing 3- and 4-axis horizontal and vertical CNC machining centers to produce precision-machined prototype and low-volume production components. The ideal candidate brings strong CNC setup and programming knowledge, careful quality inspection practices, and a commitment to safety.
Responsibilities- Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and quality plans to set up and operate 3- and 4-axis CNC mills.
- Select and install appropriate fixturing, tooling, and machining parameters to produce compliant precision-machined parts.
- Operate horizontal and vertical CNC machining centers for prototype and low-volume production work.
- Verify part accuracy using precision measuring tools and equipment in accordance with documented quality plans.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make real-time adjustments to improve machining performance, efficiency, and accuracy.
- Perform routine and preventive machine maintenance, troubleshoot malfunctions, and coordinate repairs when needed.
- Maintain complete production records and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs between shifts.
- Train and mentor junior machinists by sharing machining knowledge and best practices.
- Follow all quality assurance, safety, PPE, housekeeping, attendance, and company conduct requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 7 years of CNC machining experience, including setup, operation, and optimization of CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
- Experience setting up and operating 3- and 4-axis CNC mills.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining and programming principles.
- Ability to edit and/or write basic machining macros.
- Ability to quickly identify and troubleshoot machining problems during approval and production processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, with a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality precision parts.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to walk and remain on your feet for extended periods; reach, stoop, and kneel; and lift up to 35 pounds as needed.
- Ability to train on first shift before transitioning to second shift, as needed.
- Hourly pay of $27.00 to $36.00 per hour, plus a 10% second-shift premium above the base rate.
