The Supervisor is responsible for all operational activities within the department. Would have direct reports across all shifts. This position is located at 6457 Fly Rd. East Syracuse, NY 13057. May have to travel to other locations for training.
DutiesSupervises the daily wastewater treatment operations and compliance through effective selection, training, and evaluation of employees through effective delegation and follow-up tasks. Daily site inspections of facility. Waste generation supervision POG and manifesting supervision. Conduct monthly inspections in conjunction with management. Ensure spare parts and chemicals are inventories and in-stock for compliant operation. Liaison with contractors who come on site for environmental purposes.
Schedule and assign work within unit to regulate workflow and meet required schedules. Provide technical assistance and supervision throughout the department. Work with engineering on miscellaneous troubleshooting on hour-to-hour basis as needed throughout the day. Identifies problems in product, equipment, quality, safety and/or employee relations. Conduct monthly toolbox safety meetings, attend supervisors' safety meetings, and order safety products. In conjunction with the EHS manager schedule, generate agenda and discuss topics at operations meetings.
Participate in current engineering projects, statistical product controls, and preventative maintenance. Responsible for machinery yearly calibrations, scheduling, PMs, audits, customer requests, ISO 9002, and safety. Train all waste treat employees on new and existing O&M procedures. Test procedures to see that they are current and being followed. Update departmental procedures, sign off employees, and maintain training. Responsible for meeting department goals, corrective actions, and department cleanliness.
Generate, accumulate, and handle hazardous waste generated in daily operations and directed by the EH&S Manager. Responsible for environmental, safety, and general housekeeping of the department, for the adherence to the quality and continuous improvement policy of the department, for emergency response efforts, and evacuation of the building personnel, and responsible during an emergency. Responsibilities include the reporting of all accidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
Perform job duties with the required and appropriate personal protective equipment. Full participation in safety training and the ability to understand and follow the directions identified in the Job Safety Analysis, PPE Assessments, Material Safety Data Sheets, and for all Safety Procedures and alerts. Ensure all necessary documents, files and employee records and information are protected and kept confidential. Facilitates and attends meetings, communicates regularly with managers and supervisors, suggests and composes procedural changes, attends special training, maintains a clean, safe work environment and communicates safety hazards and issues to supervisors.
