Superior Metals Manufacturing seeks a VIM Melter/Caster to operate and monitor vacuum induction melting furnaces to produce high-quality metal alloys. Responsibilities include charge preparation, furnace setup, vacuum system operation, alloying, and casting to tight specifications. The role ensures adherence to safety, quality, and production standards while maintaining logs, adjusting process parameters, and performing routine equipment checks. Collaborate with maintenance and quality teams on troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, safety-focused, and comfortable in a hot, industrial environment with rotating shifts.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor vacuum induction melting (VIM) furnaces and casting equipment
- Prepare charges, alloys, molds, and tooling per work orders and specifications
- Control vacuum, temperature, and timing parameters to achieve required alloy chemistry and quality
- Follow strict safety, PPE, and lockout/tagout procedures in a hot industrial environment
- Inspect cast products for defects and coordinate with quality for testing and documentation
- Record heat data, production logs, and process parameters accurately
- Perform routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on furnaces and related equipment
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment or process issues with maintenance and engineering teams
- Follow standard operating procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Work effectively on a team and support rotating shifts or overtime as needed
