Director of Alumni will plan and implement an ongoing, comprehensive annual development effort among alumni, students, parents, faculty and friends of the College of Nursing at Upstate Medical University. This will include direct mail, face-to-face solicitation, electronic solicitation, grant writing and grant administration, and donor stewardship. In addition to annual campaign fundraising, the successful candidate should have a solid understanding of moves management, including the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors.
Other Duties to include but not limited to:
- Provide leadership and support to the board of directors. Recruit new members, promote participation and provide opportunities for board development. Ensure submission of annual tax reports and maintain currency of legal materials such as minutes and bylaws.
- Manage and adhere to alumni association budgets.
- Administer endowed student scholarships, an endowed lectureship, and others. Steward major donors.
- Maintain historical files for the alumni association, including master charts of scholarship recipients.
- Develop and oversee a communications plan, to include: solicitation letters, a bi-annual newsletter, website content, e-mail, social media postings and other communications.
- Plan and implement program-enhancing events for alumni. Work with college and university staff on events such as: annual white coat ceremony, student orientation, commencement and pre-commencement activities, continuing education events, and alumni gatherings.
- Participate in Upstate Foundation activities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent communication, writing/editing, math, organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for meetings with donors and prospects.
- Flexible work hours to attend special events and board meetings.
- Several years of experience in development, including annual fundraising and major gift fundraising. Knowledge of Raiser's Edge and/or background in health care a plus.
Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000, DOE
