Community Outreach Assistant

CNY Fair Housing is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating housing discrimination, promoting open and diverse communities, and ensuring equal access to housing opportunity for all people in Central and Upstate New York. At CNY Fair Housing, you will have an opportunity to work with and learn from a team of dedicated civil rights and housing professionals.

The Community Outreach Assistant supports the agency's community engagement efforts by assisting the Community Outreach Coordinator and Director of Community Engagement with education, outreach, and marketing activities. This is a full-time, grant-funded position with a salary range of $47,000 - $50,000. Benefits package includes health and dental insurance, 403(b) with matching after one year, and generous family leave.

Community Outreach Coordinator and Director of Community Engagement

• Assist with coordinating education and outreach activities including speaking engagements, training sessions, webinars, and tabling events
• Design and produce print and digital outreach and marketing materials
• Help manage agency's public communications including social media platforms, newsletters, and website updates
• Represent agency at community events; educate community members on housing issues and agency services
• Assist with planning and executing organization events including annual fundraisers, conferences, and other community-related events
• Support the development and maintenance of partnerships with community stakeholders including tenant groups, housing associations, and human service agencies
• Assist with coordinating earned and paid advertising opportunities including media outreach
• Track and report on program activities; assist with monitoring progress toward achieving grant goals
• Maintain records of outreach activities and prepare summary reports as directed
• Assist with other tasks as needed

• A demonstrated commitment to social justice
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills including social media, basic graphic design, and website management
• Experience working effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Previous outreach and/or non-profit experience a plus
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree or commensurate experience required
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
