Programs Coordinator

The Programs Coordinator supports the implementation and day-to-day administration of various Food Bank programs. This role helps ensure programs operate effectively, align with the mission of Food Bank of Central New York, and meet the needs of the communities we serve. The Programs Coordinator works closely with staff, community partners, and other departments to support program activities, maintain compliance requirements, and contribute to positive program outcomes.

The Programs Coordinator:

  • Coordinates and supports Food Bank programs and initiatives as assigned.
  • Collects and tracks program data, participant information, and feedback to support program evaluation and reporting.
  • Manages assigned program orders through internal systems, ensuring accuracy, timely processing, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Collaborates with internal departments to support program operations and ensure timely completion of program activities.
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with community partners, agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Assists with program budgets, expense tracking, grant documentation, and other administrative requirements.
  • Supports compliance with applicable regulations, policies, procedures, and grant requirements.
  • Represents Food Bank of Central New York at community events, meetings, and outreach activities as assigned.
  • Assists with training, orientation, and coordination of volunteers and program participants as needed.
  • Prepares reports, correspondence, and other program-related documentation.
  • Maintains organized program records and assists with other duties related to program operations as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Use of hands for typing, writing, and other administrative tasks.
  • Ability to travel locally throughout our 11-county service area as needed to conduct site visits, complete program evaluations, and attend meetings.

Education & Certification Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in social work, public administration, business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (required).
  • This position will receive a pre-employment drug test (drivers only) and background check. Food Bank of Central New York complies with all applicable state and federal laws pertaining to drug testing and background checks, including Article 23-A.

Experience Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in program coordination, customer service, nonprofit operations, administrative support, community outreach, or a related field.
  • Experience working in nonprofit organizations or food security programs (preferred).

Skill Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping, data entry, and reporting.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with community partners, volunteers, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize internal program management and ordering systems.
  • Basic analytical skills, including the ability to collect, track, and summarize program data.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Food Bank of Central New York.
  • Bi-or multi-lingual a plus.
