Registered Nurse RN PACU​/Recovery Room

Job Description

Registered Nurse Surgical Admit & Recovery – St. Joseph’s Health. Responsible for high‑quality nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures, ensuring safe transitions between preoperative and post‑anesthesia care phases. PACU hours 6am‑11:30pm with on‑call requirement and one weekend every fourth weekend. Full‑time, 40‑hour day/evening rotating shift.

• Assess and prepare patients for surgery, review medical history, administer preoperative medications, monitor patients in the Pre‑Op area, ensuring they are stable and ready for surgery.
• Provide immediate post‑anesthesia care, monitor vital signs, and assess for complications.
• Educate patients and families on post‑operative care, discharge instructions, and recovery expectations.
• Apply strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills in a fast‑paced environment and respond quickly to changing patient conditions.

• Education:
  
  Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program (BSN preferred).
• Licensure:
  Current RN licensure in New York.
• Certification: BLS/CPR; CNOR or CPAN certification a plus.
• Experience:
  
  1‑2 years in Pre‑Op, PACU, or Surgical/Perioperative Nursing.

Work Schedule:

Full time – 40 hour Day/Evening rotating shift. Pay Range: $38.75–$54.85 per hour.
