Overview
Our Birthplace/ Labor & Deliver unit is comprised of eight Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms, nine Triage/Recovery beds, and three Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum rooms designated as the Birthplace. We also have two surgical delivery rooms. A total of 20 beds facilitates family centered care for low and high risk antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum mothers and newborns. St. Joseph's Health is one of only two hospitals in New York State to be recognized in Newsweek's 2021 list of Best Maternity Hospitals.
Nationally, only 217 facilities met Leapfrog safety standards for excellence in maternity care by following important protocols to protect moms and babies and maintaining low rates of C-section, episiotomy and early elective deliveries. In addition, we provide surgical procedures and triage for GYN patients. Specialized training is provided for all aspects of obstetrical and GYN care.
Provide family centered therapeutic nursing interventions, hands on skills, family/caregiver education, goal setting, critical thinking and care planning. Collaborative team approach:
Our interdisciplinary team of staff includes, OB providers, certified nurse midwives, anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, registered nurses, lactation consultants, OB technicians, social workers, and spiritual care. Participate in precepting and mentoring students and new staff.
Ensures quality nursing care is rendered to all patients in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, National Standards of Practice, and Nursing and Clinical Service standards of care and practice. Utilizing the Nursing Process, plans, directs and supervises the care of patients in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current LPN licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York. One year of clinical experience with medication administration preferred. Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Current BLS & CPR certifications.
Work Environment And HazardsClinical setting. Exposure Class I.
Physical DemandsMedium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.

CompensationPay Range: $27.85-$35.87. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
