POSITION SUMMARY:
St. Joseph’s College of Nursing invites applications for the position of Dean, College of Nursing. The college seeks a dynamic leader who will guide nursing education eph’s College of Nursing into the future. The Dean is student outcomes focused with a shared strategic vision, displaying transparency and collaboration with key stakeholders inclusive of the Syracuse community and Central New York region.
The Dean serves as the chief administrative officer of the college, responsible for planning, organizing and leading the overall operations and administration of the service assigned in compliance with the mission and philosophy of the organization as established by the Board of Trustees. The Dean is responsible for the overall operations, administration, and management of the College of Nursing and represents the college to academic and professional education communities, students, and alumni.
The Dean also creates and clearly articulates the vision and leadership necessary to accomplish the college’s strategic plan while aligning the mission of the college and the governing organization.
Doctoral degree required;
Master’s degree in nursing or related field with at least five years of progressive experience in nursing education and academic leadership. The Dean must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and hold current licensure as a Registered Nurse in New York State.
Participates in continuing education; has specialized knowledge in nursing education, curriculum design, and program development and evaluation; maintains knowledge of current nursing practices; member of the Council for Associate Degree Nursing (CADN) in New York State; aware of NYSED policies and procedures.
Special Skills or Other Requirements:- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills; transformational leadership; change management; effective planning, organizing, conflict resolution, and negotiation.
- Motivational skills that promote creativity and innovation at every academic level.
- Experience in developing and managing operational and capital budgets.
- Broad-based knowledge of regulatory compliance related to higher education and nursing programs; knowledge of federal and state regulations relevant to health care and nursing education.
- Understanding of utilization management, performance improvement, and peer review.
