Postdoctoral Researcher – Chemistry, Syracuse, NY
The Department of Chemistry at Syracuse University invites applications for a Postdoctoral position focusing on the optical and electronic properties of low-dimensional nanomaterials (1D quantum rods, 2D quantum plates…) for green energy applications. The role involves design and synthesis of colloidal nanomaterials, photo‑catalysis, manipulation of air‑sensitive compounds using glove boxes and Schlenk lines, material assembly, and characterization using electron microscopy, XRD, XPS, electrochemistry (CV, EIS) and GC.
The position is available immediately; the start date is flexible and the appointment is one year with renewal contingent on performance and funding.
- Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, or a closely related field.
- Experience with colloidal synthesis, photo‑catalysis, air‑sensitive handling, and nanomaterial characterization.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Lead research initiatives and mentor lab members.
- Design and conduct experiments related to nanomaterial synthesis and characterization.
- Write research proposals and grant applications.
- Publish results in peer‑reviewed journals.
