Physics Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)

We’re looking for physics experts to help evaluate and improve the next generation of AI systems. Your deep understanding of physical principles will directly shape how AI reasons through complex problems — from undergraduate mechanics to graduate-level electromagnetism and beyond.

About

The Role

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your expertise genuinely matters. You don’t need any prior AI experience — just strong physics knowledge and the ability to think and communicate rigorously.

  • Organization:
    Alignerr
  • Type:
    Hourly Contract
  • Location:

    Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You’ll Do
  • Design challenging, well‑structured physics problems across domains including mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics
  • Develop clear, step‑by‑step solutions with rigorous logical reasoning
  • Evaluate AI‑generated responses for scientific accuracy and quality of reasoning
  • Collaborate with researchers to refine benchmarks spanning undergraduate to Masters‑level physics
  • Provide structured, detailed feedback that helps AI models improve over time
Who You Are
  • Currently pursuing or have completed a Masters degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a closely related field
  • Strong problem‑solving ability across advanced physics domains
  • Able to communicate complex concepts clearly and precisely in writing
  • Detail‑oriented with a systematic approach to evaluating reasoning
  • Self‑motivated and comfortable working independently and asynchronously
  • No prior AI or data annotation experience required
Nice to Have
  • Experience with data annotation, data quality review, or evaluation systems
  • Familiarity with AI language models or benchmarking workflows
  • Background in research, tutoring, or academic writing
Why Join Us
  • Work on cutting‑edge AI projects in direct collaboration with leading AI research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work on your schedule, from anywhere
  • Freelance perks: high autonomy, variety of tasks, and global collaboration
  • Meaningful work that shapes how AI understands and applies physics
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract renewal
