Job Summary:
Dr. Marie Bechler's lab isseeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Research Support Specialist to join her NIH-funded research team studying myelin sheath formation in the central nervous system. This is an opportunity to contribute to impactful biomedical research within a collaborative and supportive lab environment.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform and support a variety of research tasks, including experimentation, data collection, analysis, and interpretation under the guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI).
- Document and report experimental procedures and results clearly and accurately.
- Assist in training lab members in experimental procedures and safety practices.
- Support daily lab operations, including maintaining organization, inventory, and equipment, compliance with safety protocols, as well as handling of chemicals and biohazards.
- Obtain quotes and place orders for lab supplies; manage incoming inventory.
Experimental techniques may include neurobiology and cell biology methods, such as:
- primary cell culture
- CNS tissue sectioning
- rodent surgery
- immunofluorescence
- western blotting
- RNA analysis (e.g., RNA Seq)
- advanced imaging techniques (e.g., confocal and electron microscopy)
BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Neurobiology, Bioengineering or in a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:At least 6 months experience in a basic science laboratory (wet lab) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Days:Monday-Friday, days with occasional evening or weekend hours.
