Job Description
The Mathematics Department at Syracuse University invites applications for a one-year, subject to renewal, Postdoctoral Scholar position beginning between July 1, 2026, and August 16, 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to a research program focused on mathematical imaging, nonlinear optimization, and neural networks.
Qualifications- Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in both research and teaching.
- Preference will be given to candidates whose research interests overlap with or complement the work of Professor Lixin Shen’s research group, particularly in the areas of optimization and imaging sciences.
- Conduct high-level research in the designated areas of study.
- Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Co-mentor graduate and undergraduate student researchers.
- Actively contribute to the intellectual life and seminar culture of the department.
