Job Summary:

Research faculty position for investigators with proven skills in conducting original research in the field of Neuro-Oncology, including adult/pediatric, brain, skull base, or brain metastatic cancers. Candidates must have a history of high productivity, impactful peer-reviewed publications, and a clear vision for long-term growth of their research. The successful candidate will join a community of neuroscience and oncology investigators with strengths in genomics, cytoskeleton, tumor microenvironment, biomechanics, and molecular/cellular cancer biology.

Research will be supported by state-of-the art genomics and proteomics facilities, advanced microscopy, and a tumor biobank that includes a unique collection of brain cancer specimens. An organoids core is under development. As a member of the Neuroscience & Physiology Department, the Neurosurgery Department and the SUNY Upstate Cancer Center, the successful candidate will actively participate in developing a research program in neuro-oncology that will combine strengths from multiple investigators to help attract further talent and help secure funding support.

The candidate will have the title of Assistant Professor in the departments of Neuroscience & Physiology and Neurosurgery, with further affiliation with the SUNY Upstate Cancer Center. Tenure or research track based on qualifications and career trajectory.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in relevant discipline/specialty, with a strong record of publications and early-career recognition. Advanced faculty (eligible for Associate level and above associate) with current funding are encouraged to apply to the Empire Innovation Scholar neuro-oncology Job posting # 87471.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven ability to participate in team science, contribute to a multidisciplinary research program, identify research trends, and generate new ideas and opportunities for funding. All areas of research will be considered, with preference for primary brain cancers, cancer neuroscience, neuroimmunology, or cancer microenvironment.
