Clean Harbors seeks an Environmental Field Chemist to support hazardous waste management projects within the Administrative & Support & Waste Management industry. In this role, you will perform on-site identification, sampling, and characterization of hazardous materials, ensuring accurate labeling, documentation, and safe handling. You will operate field instruments, support emergency spill response, and coordinate with operations teams to transport and dispose of waste in compliance with environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site sampling, identification, and classification of hazardous waste materials at client facilities
  • Perform field chemical analysis and ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation for transport and disposal
  • Operate and maintain field equipment, including sampling tools, meters, and monitoring instruments
  • Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations
  • Prepare and maintain accurate logs, manifests, and chain-of-custody records
  • Collaborate with project managers, drivers, and facility personnel to coordinate waste collection and shipment
  • Participate in emergency spill response and remediation activities as needed
  • Follow Clean Harbors safety protocols, including use of PPE and participation in safety meetings and trainings
  • Assist with site inspections, audits, and client reporting requirements
  • Support continuous improvement in environmental protection and operational efficiency
