Job Summary:
The Security Officer at SUNY Upstate performs the following: patrols and monitors secure and restricted areas and guards SUNY Upstate's buildings, entrances, and grounds to prevent and intervene in disturbances to SUNY Upstate process and operations from irate or potentially unruly patients or visitors. Protects the safety and security of patient, visitors, employees, and all who enter Upstate. Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license.
Minimum Qualifications:The NYS Department of Civil Service has developed the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement (
HELP
) Program, During this program, the NYS Civil Service Exam requirements are suspended for the University Police Communication and Security Specialist 1 title.
For consideration for this title, you must meetone of the following minimum qualifications:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Security Guard Photo d by the NYS Department of State.
- Either be on the NYS Department of Civil Service Eligible List or be eligible for transfer.
- Open competitive (Non-competitive, NY HELPS) Qualifications.
