Residential Community Safety Officer

Job Overview

Full-time, 40‑hour academic year position reporting to the Sergeant for Residential Security. Responsible for validating access at residential living center doors during scheduled hours. Shift hours: 8:00 pm – 6:00 am. Non‑exempt, Staff Level S2. Pay Range: $17.817 per hour. Eligible employees must have a New York State Security Guard license and complete a Field Training Program.

• Validate access and IDs of all persons entering the residential facility.
• Ensure that all visitors and guests are signed in and the appropriate sponsorship is confirmed.
• When necessary, effectively communicate with non‑authorized visitors about access policies.
• Use sound judgment and reasoning when faced with questionable or ambiguous situations.
• Be responsible for accurate time reporting.
• Prepare written reports regarding unauthorized access, including creating incident reports and judicial complaints.
• Utilize standard radio communications to report incidents to Public Safety.
• Foot patrol may be required.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience in a collegiate setting preferred.
• Must obtain a New York State Security Guard license and meet department and New York State Security Guard Act qualifications.
• Successful completion of a Field Training Program.
• Employment contingent upon a thorough background check and a criminal records check.
• Upon hire, must submit to a pre‑employment drug test and future random drug screenings.
