Job Overview
Full-time, 40‑hour academic year position reporting to the Sergeant for Residential Security. Responsible for validating access at residential living center doors during scheduled hours. Shift hours: 8:00 pm – 6:00 am. Non‑exempt, Staff Level S2. Pay Range: $17.817 per hour. Eligible employees must have a New York State Security Guard license and complete a Field Training Program.
Responsibilities- Validate access and IDs of all persons entering the residential facility.
- Ensure that all visitors and guests are signed in and the appropriate sponsorship is confirmed.
- When necessary, effectively communicate with non‑authorized visitors about access policies.
- Use sound judgment and reasoning when faced with questionable or ambiguous situations.
- Be responsible for accurate time reporting.
- Prepare written reports regarding unauthorized access, including creating incident reports and judicial complaints.
- Utilize standard radio communications to report incidents to Public Safety.
- Foot patrol may be required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a collegiate setting preferred.
- Must obtain a New York State Security Guard license and meet department and New York State Security Guard Act qualifications.
- Successful completion of a Field Training Program.
- Employment contingent upon a thorough background check and a criminal records check.
- Upon hire, must submit to a pre‑employment drug test and future random drug screenings.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team and interrelate with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Creative and innovative problem solving.
- Good customer‑service and communication skills.
- Assertive and helpful personality.
- Attention to detail, focus, and alertness.
- Foot patrol may be required.
- Standard radio communications to report incidents to Public Safety.
