At Wegmans, we’re committed to providing huge service while ensuring the safety of customers and employees. Asset Protection Officers maintain a visible presence throughout the store, including foot and vehicle patrols. Below is the role and what is expected.

• Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and survey the outside parking areas
• Escort employees and/or customers as requested
• Intervene with and effectively diffuse customer conflicts
• Inspect perimeter doors, windows and gates to ensure high levels of security
• Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity on the property
• Engage in work environment interactions that may involve conflict or other stressful situations

• 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer with arrest authority in a military, municipal, county, state, or federal police agency
• Valid license to carry a firearm
• Valid driver’s license
• Conflict management and problem‑solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Sound judgement and ability to communicate effectively under pressure
• Effective communication skills and ability to maintain composure in stressful environments
• Ability to anticipate, analyze and identify opportunities
• Extensive experience as a Trooper/Police Officer working road patrol or experience in the United States Military in Special Operations or Military Law Enforcement with advanced tactical skills

• Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field
• Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
• Certified AED, APR and FAC
• CPR certification from Red Cross/AHA
• AED and FAC certification from AHA
• EMT certification from NREMT

First Aid Certification (all from AHA).

• Includes driving, walking, standing, lifting, and being alert for long periods
• Light to medium effort work with some heavy effort tasks
• Work environment involves exposure to various environmental conditions including temperature changes and allergens
