We are looking for a skilled Building HVAC Maintenance Mechanic with the ability to collaborate with our team. As an HVAC Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for commercial installations and repairs, executing service and maintenance contracts, and should be proficient in troubleshooting refrigerant-based systems, electrical and installation. You should be able to work independently on projects and take initiative when necessary.
Responsibilities- HVAC Mechanic must have six (6) years’ experience and/or Union Journeyman Book.
- Available to work on-site.
- Must be able to work one of the designated shifts (see schedule below).
Tuesday – Saturday 3:00 PM EST–11:30 PM EST
Tuesday – Saturday 11:00 PM EST–7:30 AM EST
Sunday – Thursday 3:00 PM EST–11:30 PM EST
Sunday – Thursday 11:00 PM EST–7:30 PM EST - May be required to work an estimated 10% or 200 hours overtime.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on high‑pressure or high‑temperature hot water, steam systems and auxiliary heating system equipment, mechanical equipment rooms, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, pumps, air compressors, temperature and humidity control systems, and emergency generators.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and inspect equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Must observe, read, and interpret gauges and meters.
- Must utilize hand and power tools of trade.
- Must read and interpret technical manuals and specifications.
- Must be able to lift, climb, stoop, bend and stretch for long periods of time, as well as perform moderate to heavy lifting.
- Must be able to work independently, integrate with on‑site staff, communicate results, and provide written completion reporting.
- Must be able to learn and operate building management system.
- Will be responsible to respond to routine building maintenance calls (e.g., toilets not flushing, lights out).
- Must be able to learn Duty Engineer (DE) responsibilities and follow departmental policies regarding different operational scenarios.
- Possess a Universal Refrigeration Certificate.
- Possess NYS 7G license, or acquire one within three (3) months of hire date.
- Have at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Have at least two (2) years of steam experience.
- Have at least two (2) years of refrigeration experience.
- Have at least two (2) years of service call experience.
- Salary Range: $36.29 – $58.85 per hour, dependent on skill and experience.
