Lead Diesel Mechanic; Heavy Equipment

JOB TITLE: Lead Diesel Mechanic (Heavy Equipment)

REPORTS TO: Yard Manager.

JOB TYPE: Full-time, Non-Exempt.

LOCATION: 6225 Thompson Rd. Syracuse, NY 13206.

HOURS OF OPERATION: Monday - Friday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

OVER TIME: Saturday’s 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM as needed and/or requested.

COMPENSATION: $28-32 Based on experience & skills.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to service and repair on-road and off-road heavy equipment.

• Perform basic preventative maintenance on all diesel vehicles, heavy equipment such as tractors, roll-off trucks, lugger trucks, loaders, excavators, forklifts, etc.
• Troubleshoot and repair all types of diesel engine equipment.
• Diagnose and repair heavy machinery (tractors, roll-off trucks, lugger trucks, excavators, loaders, forklifts, skid steers).
• Repair, replace, recondition, disassemble, weld and examine parts and engines.
• Maintain inventory of tools and supplies.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the manager.
• Comply with all company safety measures and government regulations.
• Communicate with internal customers (yard | warehouse | transportation staff and management) in a professional and courteous manner.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two (2) years diesel mechanic experience or trade school equivalent.
• Must have own tools.
• A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects (over 50 pounds).
• Squat and kneel.
• Bend and twist as appropriate.
• Sit/Stand for long periods at a time.
