Field Equipment Technician

Position:
Forklift Field Service Technician / Mechanic (Full‑time, first shift M–F, hourly)

Location:

East Syracuse, NY

We are seeking an experienced Technician/Mechanic with a background in auto, diesel, agricultural, material handling, lift truck or heavy equipment repair to join our Material Handling Group.

• Perform preventative maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment
• Diagnose and repair all forms of customer equipment
• Complete each repair job in a timely, efficient and professional manner
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Work and manage workloads independently
• Properly complete and submit all required paperwork
• Manage company vehicle and on‑board parts inventory
• Incorporate Alta’s Guiding Principles into daily activities
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Maintain consistent, regular, and reliable attendance and arrive on time

• Two years of forklift repair experience, preferably with military, guard or reserve MOS/NEC codes 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M or CM
• Previous field experience highly preferable
• Strong working knowledge of electric and liquid propane units
• Excellent mechanical aptitude
• Own tools required
• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license to operate company vehicle
• Computer proficiency – HYPASS, Hyster TKC training software and Yale/Hyster contact management system
• Language skills – Intermediate reading, reporting and speaking abilities
• Mathematical skills – Basic arithmetic and units of measurement
• Reasoning ability – Intermediate problem‑solving in written, oral or diagram form

• Stand, walk, use hands, reach; talk/hear; occasionally sit, climb, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• No special vision requirements
• Lift up to 10 lbs regularly; 11‑25 lbs frequently; 26–100+ lbs occasionally
• Frequent bending and working from a prone position required
• Work near moving mechanical parts; exposure to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, or wet, humid, extreme cold or heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration

Hourly rate: $25.00 – $38.00 per hour, base pay only; total compensation includes benefits and potential bonuses.
