Job Summary

We are hiring a Mobile Trailer Technician II to perform certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light repairs, and other duties on customer sites. The role is dedicated on‑site work, with opportunities to perform advanced repairs under the supervision of senior technicians.

Duties
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on trailers and equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Document work on Repair Orders using the company iOS device and TRAIT application, including uploading pictures and parts used.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, and brake chambers.
  • Accurately complete DOT and other required forms promptly.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical components.
  • Follow safe operating practices and procedures at all times.
  • Manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Operate the service vehicle safely, performing pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections.
  • Apply knowledge gained through training or on‑the‑job experience to effectively complete job tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to assess needs and provide assistance.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage own schedule independently.
  • Maintain high productivity and adhere to standard repair times.
  • Source parts from approved vendors as needed.
  • Communicate with management to obtain approvals for repair estimates and purchase orders.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Participate in and complete all required company safety training.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair trailer equipment and systems, including welding, fabrication, and panel replacement.
  • Use sound judgment to evaluate alternatives and make decisions.
  • Test equipment with handheld computers and pressure gauges to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Assist Mobile Trailer Technician I with diagnostics as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 3 years of experience in a related field (trailer service). A degree or certification beyond high school or 5 years of experience may also be considered.
  • Supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
  • OEM training and certifications are preferred.
  • Complete all company‑required training.
  • Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background check and DOT physical, or provide a DOT medical card with more than four months until expiration.
  • Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid state driver’s license and a Class CDL C license.
Required or Obtained Within 18 Months
  • ASE T8 (PMI) certification
Preferred Certifications
  • ASE 608/609 certification
  • ASE T4 (Brakes) certification
  • ASE T5 (Suspension) certification
  • ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification
  • ASE T7 (HVAC) certification

  • Knowledge of trailer parts and systems for repair and maintenance.
  • Understand implications of new information for decision‑making.
  • Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods and perform moderately heavy labor.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks without excessive fatigue.
  • Accurate visual judgment of distances between objects.
  • Communicate information succinctly and organize messages effectively.
  • Determine appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
  • Apply logic and reasoning to evaluate alternatives.
