Job Description
Plan and perform a large variety of difficult plumbing work.
Education and Experience- Advanced knowledge of the plumbing trade equivalent to complete accredited apprentice training.
- At least two years additional practical experience.
- Valid driver's license; ability to drive both manual and automatic transmissions.
- Must provide own hand tools, including pipe, sink, and crescent wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, vice grips, etc.
- Valid NSPF CPO certification.
- Advanced knowledge of DI and RO lab water systems.
- Valid NYS driver's license; ability to drive manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Follow established PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) procedures.
- Drill holes in walls and floors for pipe installation.
- Install pipe hangers and insulate piping.
- Disconnect and connect electrical leads on hot water tanks and stills for replacement, exercising judgment within established procedures for asbestos, PCB, Lock Out Tag Out, confined space, and aerial lifts.
- Do planned layout work.
- Estimate materials, costs, time and personnel requirements.
- Install and repair showers, bathroom fixtures, laboratory plumbing, sewer, gas, air, and vacuum lines; hot and cold-water tanks; sewer, water and sump pumps.
- Install and maintain air and ground water sprinkler systems.
- Seal joints properly; perform pool, spa maintenance and testing.
- Maintain and test DI, RO laboratory systems.
- Maintain and test backflow prev enters.
- Standing 65%–90% of shift.
- Frequent bending at the waist; able to bend below the knee (50–80%).
- Frequent stooping and/or crouching (50–80% of shift).
- Frequent twisting and bending of head, neck, and torso (75–95%).
- Full range of arm movement (extension, twisting, bending, reaching overhead).
- Visual and cognitive capability sufficient to read and interpret diagrams and blueprints, troubleshoot, diagnose problems and make repairs.
- Perform mathematical calculations as necessary.
- Wrist and finger dexterity for hand tools.
- Operate power tools.
- Repetitive arm movement (e.g., hammering).
- Work on ladders, scaffolds, or other elevated heights.
- Drive vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
- Climb up and down truck cab.
- Work in extreme heat.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 75 lbs.
- Exposure to flames, smoke, strong odors, dust, chlorine, and other chemicals.
- Use a variety of materials such as galvanized, copper, cast iron, duriron, ABS, PVC, lab tubing, glass tubing, fuseseal.
- Use a variety of hand tools, hand power tools, pipe threadyer, snake, masonry drill, etc.
