Field Service Technician
Opus Inspection is hiring for a Field Service Technician in the Syracuse area. This position serves as the electronic technician in the Field Service Support function responsible for installation, repair, maintenance, and calibration of all equipment, instruments, and analytical systems in the emission inspection program. Maintains a territory consisting of approximately 1,200 customers. Works independent of direct supervision, responsible for customers in assigned work area as well as working with a team of technicians to service the needs of all customers in a state or regional area.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8a-4:30p (40 hours per week, home every evening)
Pay: $22-23/hour with full benefits offered
Duties and Responsibilities
- Requires travel around the assigned territory using a company vehicle
- Responsible for trouble-shooting equipment and analyzing appropriate documents to determine cause of equipment trouble and malfunctions in major test equipment and test procedures within designated territory
- Performs maintenance of instruments and equipment.
- Consistently provides a high level of customer satisfaction to accounts assigned to his/her territory
- Responsible for generating consumable and service sales, including service agreements.
- Completes necessary paperwork and reports on assigned work and assist in the completion of records, reports, and other test documents.
- Responsible for the accuracy of inventory in his/her possession.
- Provides training to customer base on the proper operation and maintenance of motor vehicle inspection equipment.
- Responsible for preventive maintenance on company vehicle assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- PC diagnostic capabilities, including knowledge of windows operating systems
- Ability to measure AC & DC voltages, measure current, and check ohms with the digital multimeter.
- Ability to read schematic drawings.
- Ability to use a standard set of tools
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience troubleshooting computers preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Working knowledge of standard business practices.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license to operate company vehicle.
- Basic computer data entry skills.
- Ability to lift moderate to heavy items required.
- Ability to stand, sit, stoop, bend, crawl, and crouch in extreme hot and cold conditions.
- Ability to travel, work outside normal operating hours
