Lead HVAC Technician - JLL

What this job involves:
The Lead HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing and commercial HVAC systems. This position provides technical leadership, ensures safe work practices, and supports reliable facility operations while delivering excellent customer service.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Install, inspect, maintain, PM and repair HVAC systems serving pharmaceutical manufacturing areas, clean rooms, and commercial buildings, including heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment such as chillers, DX units, package AC units, cassette AC units, ducted systems, split systems, FCU, and AHU equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, adjustments, cleaning, and repairs to optimize system performance, reliability, and energy efficiency.
  • Perform brazing, nitrogen pressure testing, leak detection, compressor replacement, PCB replacement, and HVAC fault diagnostics to support reliable system operation and timely repairs.
  • Troubleshooting and Corrective Action:
    Analyze system operation, identify the cause of equipment problems or malfunctions, and take corrective action as required.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of refrigerant types, properties, safe handling practices, recovery requirements, and system applications, including R-410A, R-404A, R-134a, R-22, and other commonly used refrigerants.
  • Mechanical Maintenance and Repair:
    Install and rebuild pumps, motors, air compressors, and heat exchangers.
  • Replace motor bearings and pump seals; install and repair piping, valves, filters, hot water systems, and associated controls; and assist other mechanics and operators with major building and equipment repairs.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with technicians, vendors, contractors, and facility management teams on maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, preventive maintenance activities, repairs, and service reports.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and support after-hours maintenance activities as required.
  • Stay current with HVAC technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to client inquiries, explaining repair options, and recommending system improvements where appropriate.
  • Lead, support, and mentor junior technicians while providing technical guidance and training.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on commercial HVAC maintenance and repair experience EPA Universal Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC controls, refrigeration systems, mechanical equipment, and building automation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Self‑disciplined, dependable, detail‑oriented, and customer‑focused.
Preferred Qualifications
  • HVAC trade school certification or technical training.
  • Associate degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Physical Requirements

Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, bending, climbing, working on ladders or rooftops, accessing mechanical/equipment rooms, and working in varying indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.

Shift: 40-hours a week - Full Time Monday to Friday + OT.
