Advocates is seeking a compassionate, patient, and experienced Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to work with an individual with a developmental disability. In this important role, you will provide support with independent living skills, community integration, social development, and daily activities while promoting the individual's overall health, safety, and independence. This individual requires assistance with personal care needs as well as behavioral support;

therefore, experience working with individuals who have similar support needs is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, patience, reliability, good judgment, and the ability to provide consistent, person-centered support in a variety of settings.

• Must be 18 years of age.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance if required for the job assigned.

• Must be able to tolerate a moderate noise level in the work environment and must be able to handle distractions.

  GED or High School Diploma preferred. Applicable job experience preferred.

  previous experience working 1:1 in a related service environment preferred. Knowledge of disability related issues preferred.

Monday, Thursday, and Friday (2:30PM – 5:30PM)

$21.30 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16.00 per hour.
