Position Information
Title: Maintenance Department Worker (Temporary)
Location: New York State Fairgrounds, 581 State Fair Boulevard, Syracuse, NY
Posting Dates: March 27, 2026 – May 3, 2026
Pay Rate: $17.35 per hour
Employment Type: Temporary, Hourly
Jurisdictional Class: Labor
Vacancies: Eight
Responsibilities- Perform manual tasks around the fairgrounds to support State Fair operations from May to September 2026.
- Carry out light, medium, or heavy physical labor related to maintenance, groundskeeping, and custodial duties.
- Assist with parking services and general labor duties as needed.
- Operate motor vehicles and equipment when required, holding a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type.
- Physical ability to perform work involving light, medium, or heavy physical labor.
- Capacity to follow written or oral instructions.
- Valid New York State driver’s license if operating motor vehicles.
- No formal education or experience prerequisites.
- Inexpensive health insurance options.

- Eligibility for the New York State Pension Plan.
- Potential qualification for the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
