Position SummaryThe GHE H Operation Shift Supervisor is a key member of the NGHC Operations & Maintenance team, responsible for leading the safe and reliable operation of the Hydrogen Production Plants during the assigned shift.
The role is responsible for building strong working relationships with maintenance personnel, control room operators, field operators, and plant managers while ensuring safe operations through effective work permit management and strict compliance with NGHC EH&S standards.
Key Responsibilities:Operations Management
- Lead a team of 15-20 control room operators and field operators.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with plant managers, control room operators, and field operators.
- Support all day-to-day plant operations, including troubleshooting, maintenance coordination, and plant efficiency improvements.
- Work with maintenance and operations teams to prioritize, schedule, and complete daily, weekly, and long-term maintenance activities.
- Respond rapidly to planned and unplanned plant trips and lead troubleshooting initiatives.
- Develop and update operating procedures as required.
- Manage operational KPIs to improve plant performance and effectiveness.
- Promote resource sharing across NGHC Operations.
- Lead safety performance initiatives, including reducing recordable injuries, BSP compliance, incident investigation, and reporting.
- Support commissioning activities with the AP-EPC Commissioning Team.
- Promote and enforce NGHC safety programs, safety rules, and good housekeeping practices.
- Act as Incident Commander during emergency situations.
- Ensure compliance with EH&S standards, Management of Change (MOC) requirements, bypass procedures, company standards, and statutory regulations.
- Participate in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and plant start-up activities.
- Support plant troubleshooting and provide after-hours emergency assistance when required.
- Identify, communicate, implement, and maintain operational best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all training requirements, procedures, specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Create operating procedures as required to support plant operations.
- Create a positive working environment and develop operators.
- Mentor operators and maintenance technicians while promoting NGHC's safety culture.
- Foster employee involvement, teamwork, integrity, and diversity across the operations team.
- Support continuous development and knowledge sharing within the operations function.
Experience:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Hydrogen or Chlor-Alkali plant operations.
- Minimum 10 years of managerial experience in a similar operational leadership role.
- Strong safety focus and operational leadership background.
- Extensive experience in Hydrogen or Chlor-Alkali plant operations.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and planning abilities with strong prioritization skills.
- High ethical standards with an uncompromising commitment to worker safety and regulatory compliance.
- Strong understanding of industrial plant operating environments.
