Position: SUPPORT SECRETARY - BUSINESS OFFICE @ YASUHARA MIDDLE SCHOOL, 8 HRS, CONT.

Performs varied clerical and secretarial duties requiring a basic level of knowledge of office routine and understanding of the organization, programs, and procedures related to the work of the office. Maintains a close and highly responsive relationship to the day‑to‑day activities of the students, staff and administrative staff. Works fairly independently, receiving minimum supervision and guidance.

SALARY:
Level 8 on the Secretarial/Clerical Salary Schedule. Experience increments depend on experience in the same or similar permanent position within a Washington State public school. DOWNLOAD SALARY SCHEDULE.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the operation of administrative and student offices in support of school and staff, ensuring a positive, professional image. This includes greeting students, staff, visitors and callers, handling their inquiries, and directing them to the appropriate persons according to their needs.
  • Assist the principal with maintenance of the building budget including budget preparation and comparison of monthly expenditures.
  • Coordinate the financial management of ASB, including budget preparation, fundraising, counting/balancing of monies, receiving and disbursing funds in accordance with state guidelines.
  • Coordinate the financial record keeping of school site breakfast and lunch program.
  • Manage building inventory: tagging, accounting, adding, and transferring of furniture, equipment, textbooks and supplies.
  • Train students, staff and volunteers in office/site processes and etiquette; assist with evaluating student performance for grading.
  • Assist with minor medical injuries, illnesses and may administer medication for students.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional secretarial courses preferred.
  • Minimum two years of recent secretarial or clerical work experience required, with School District experience preferred.
  • Ability to accurately type 40 words per minute.
  • Basic level knowledge of general computer skills, including Microsoft office programs, payroll software, financial software (i.e., Intouch), single point of entry software, and student information system (i.e., Power School) experience preferred.
  • First Aid card preferred.

    Work schedule:

    Days and hours (listed above) are subject to change depending on program and district needs.

    Stipends, leave accruals and holidays are in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
