Tacoma Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Business Office Manager to support the Business Office Manager in overseeing the daily operations for a successful and smooth collection process for our business office. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient billing and accounting are carried out in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Reports to: Business Office Manager (BOM)

Education, Experience, and

Licensure/Certification s
  • High school graduate or equivalent. Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • One (1) year in post-acute care or other geriatric-related field preferred
  • PCC (Point Click Care) experience preferred but not required
Specific Requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and E-mail
  • Ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the business office
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Knowledgeable of administration practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing administration functions in the post-acute care facility
  • Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the administration department
  • Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to general business office responsibilities, cash receipts and billing, patient rights, and safety and sanitation
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to our organization's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training
Essential Functions
  • Assist with effective management and oversight of bookkeeping functions including posting payments and charges to patient ledgers, balance daily receipts, collecting delinquent accounts.
  • Maintain Resident Trust Checking Accounts.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
  • Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
  • Communicate and function productively in an interdisciplinary team
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Reviews payment policies and procedures with new admissions and their responsible parties
  • Establish and maintain financial files for all residents related to admission, billing, and collection of accounts receivable in accordance with regulatory
  • Document business office collections on an ongoing basis
  • Administer the resident trust account and petty cash - Reconcile petty cash monthly
  • Bank Deposits and daily mail
  • Assist with answering the phone
  • All other duties as assigned
