Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is a “full-service agency” that provides law enforcement, jail, court security, and civil processing services to all areas of unincorporated Pierce County, and the contract cities of Edgewood and University Place.
The Sheriff’s Office is comprised of 638 commissioned law enforcement and corrections staff and 67 civilian personnel. Together, these dedicated employees support our 3 bureaus, including Services, Corrections, and Operations.
You will join a team or unit located at the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters, Jail, Soundview Building, and/or the Public Disclosure Unit. This position may involve exposure to the inmate population in our maximum-security correctional facility or review of confidential and sensitive information, including crime scene photographs, videos and/or reports.

You will gain a broad knowledge of the department and may have an opportunity to transfer to another unit within the Office. Additionally, you will receive on-the-job training from administrative staff and have access to Linked In Learning to further your growth as an administrative professional.
This position performs responsible and complex and/or lead administrative support work performed for various departments and offices within Pierce County. An employee in this classification is responsible for performing specialized administrative or program support functions requiring extensive knowledge of County and departmental policies and procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSTO APPLY:
- Two or more years of progressively responsible clerical experience or administrative program support work. Additional education or related experience may substitute for the required experience to a maximum of one year.
- High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate is required.
- Age eighteen (18) at time of appointment.
- United States citizenship, lawful permanent resident or DACA recipient, and the ability to speak, read and write the English language as required by RCW 41.14.100.

- Individuals attaining a passing score of 70% or higher on the Office Assistant 3 assessment will be placed on the Civil Service register in order of final score.
