At Absher Construction, quality is built into every project from the ground up. As a Quality Control Specialist, you’ll support execution of the project‑specific Quality Control program within a designated discipline such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural. Working as an extension of the Quality Control Manager, you’ll help ensure work complies with contract documents, inspection requirements, and quality standards while supporting successful project delivery.

This is a field‑based role for someone who takes pride in precision, technical excellence, and doing things right the first time.

What You’ll Do
  • Support execution of discipline‑specific quality control activities on active projects
  • Participate in Preparatory, Initial, and Follow‑Up inspections for assigned Definable Features of Work (DFOWs)
  • Inspect work for compliance with plans, specifications, codes, and contract requirements
  • Identify quality concerns early and support corrective action with the project team
  • Support testing, inspection documentation, deficiency tracking, and closeout requirements
  • Participate in QC meetings, training events, commissioning activities, and owner or government inspections
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, field teams, and inspectors to uphold quality standards
  • Support the Quality Control Manager in maintaining documentation and compliance requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Civil – Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and 2+ years of related construction experience in similar work
  • Civil – 5+ years of related field experience as a technician or supervisor supporting civil features of work
  • Mechanical – Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years of related construction experience
  • Mechanical – 5+ years supervising mechanical features of work in the field with a construction company
  • Electrical – Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 2+ years of related construction experience
  • Electrical – 5+ years supervising electrical features of work in the field with a construction company
  • Structural – Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis preferred) or Construction Management and 2+ years of related construction experience
  • Structural – 5+ years supervising structural features of work in the field with a construction company
Additionally, qualified candidates must have:
  • Experience participating in field inspections and quality control activities related to assigned discipline
  • Ability to support Preparatory, Initial, and Follow‑Up inspections as part of the Three‑Phase Control process
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, submittals, and technical documentation
  • Experience documenting deficiencies and supporting corrective action
  • Ability to be physically present on active jobsites to support inspections, QC meetings, training events, and owner/government acceptance activities
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to assigned project sites
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal construction projects governed by United States Army Corps of Engineers and/or Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command standards
  • Familiarity with Definable Features of Work (DFOW) and Three‑Phase Control processes
  • Experience supporting commissioning, critical systems, or government acceptance inspections
  • Proficiency using construction management software and field technology tools
